Sanitize with white distilled vinegar. Pour some white distilled vinegar in a spray bottle and spray areas of your home susceptible to mold. Let it sit for several minutes, and wipe clean with a moist cloth. Vinegar effectively kills and prevents mold because of its level of acidity.

Control mold with humidity, air flow and cleanliness. Reduce the moisture in the air in your home by checking for leaks or cracks in faucets. Install dehumidifiers to reduce humidity in your home. Clean spills up as they happen.

Open the curtains and windows in the rooms of your home to let sunlight and fresh air in. The UV rays of the sun can kill airborne mold spores, and the fresh air will ventilate the air in your home.

Prevent mold spores from taking root in your home through proper ventilation. Install exhaust fans or windows in bathrooms and kitchens. Don’t allow moisture to build up on walls. Add insulation to your windows, doors and pipes to avoid condensation.

Protect your hands from vinegar. It’s a mild acid that can irritate your skin. Wear rubber gloves to prevent irritation.
Make sure you are working in a well ventilated area while working with vinegar. Vinegar is nontoxic and doesn’t give off dangerous fumes, but it does have a strong odor.
