Instructions

    • 1

Start plumeria in a 10-gallon pot so you can leave it outside in the summer and bring it in during the cold of winter. Use a 10-gallon pot so that you don't have to transplant plumeria too soon. Fill the pot with a mixture of half quick-draining soil and half compost to nourish the plumeria and give it the good drainage it requires. Plant your plumeria seedling.

    • 2

Put the pot in a sunny location in the garden. Plumerias are tropical and should be kept at 60 to 80 degrees F at all times, with full sun exposure. During a Florida summer, keep plumeria outside in full sun.

    • 3

Water the plumeria once a week with one to two inches of water. Make sure the soil maintains a good level of moisture. Feed plumeria once a week with liquid 10-10-10 fertilizer on both its leaves and soil. Follow manufacturer directions in regard to quantity and application of fertilizer.

    • 4

Move plumeria inside when outdoor temperatures drop below 60 degree F. Put the pot in a sunny location in the house, away from drafts from heating vents. Plumeria goes dormant in winter, and will store until spring.

Tips & Warnings
