How to Convert PDF Files to TIFF for Free thumbnail
Converting PDF files to TIFF files for free is simple.

Have you ever needed to edit a Portable Document Format (PDF) document but don't have the original? An easy way to edit a PDF is to convert it to a Tagged Image File Format (TIFF or TIF) image file and then change the image using GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP), Adobe Photoshop or any other image editing software. You can convert PDF files to TIFF files using free software downloaded from the Internet.

Instructions

    • 1

Download the files for PDF995 and OmniFormat from Software995's website. That website is linked in the References section. PDF995 requires two files to be downloaded: Pdf995 Printer Driver and Free Converter.

    • 2

Install the PDF995 software followed by the OmniFormat software on your computer.

    • 3

Select "TIF Tagged Image File Format" from the Output Format drop-down box in the Omniformat software.

    • 4

Open a watch folder. In the "Watch Folders" section, select a watch folder, and then click on the "Open Folder" button.

    • 5

Copy and paste your PDF file into the watch folder that you just opened.

    • 6

Click on the "Single Pass" button to convert the PDF file. The PDF file will be removed from the watch folder and replaced with the TIFF version of the file.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can change the resolution of the TIFF by clicking on the "Options" button in the "Output Format" section.

  • If you tire of the software's pop-up advertisement, you may buy a key for $9.95 (in June 2010) to remove it.

  • A higher resolution will make a TIFF file size bigger.
