How to Report Fraud to UPS
When using the United Parcel Service to complete a shipping transaction, you may find the transaction to be fraudulent. Unlike a person or business that uses the U.S. Postal Office to commit fraud, fraud committed using a delivery service such as UPS is not automatically a federal offense. Interstate commerce laws and state laws protecting consumers from fraud, however, still apply in such cases.

1
Try to resolve the matter by yourself first. Contact the person or business that shipped via UPS. Inform the person or business that the item you ordered is incorrect or is missing. State that you wish to have the error corrected immediately or you will file a fraud complaint with UPS and the Federal Trade Commission as well as the Better Business Bureau. Send a letter or email stating the same.
-
2
Gather your documentation as well as all emails or letters, receipts, and any other written documentation or correspondence that was produced during the course of the transaction. Include a copy of the letter or email you sent in an attempt to correct the matter yourself.
-
-
3
Write down the UPS tracking number located on the shipping bill affixed to the envelop or box you received. The tracking number is a combination of letters and numbers.
-
4
Take photographs of the product you ordered. If the product is not what you ordered, photograph it to document the error. If the item is missing altogether, photograph the empty box.
-
5
Call the UPS fraud department. Request to file for a fraud compliant and an investigation to be initiated. Send any supporting documentation to the fax number the representative gives you or email it to the appropriate contact.
-
6
Notify the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau. Contact each agency and report the fraud incident. Provide documentation requested by either agency so that your claim may be accurately and fairly filed.
