Instructions

    • 1

Confirm that you turned on the correct burner.

    • 2

Inspect the cookware being used on the GE electric range. Confirm that your pots and pans are flat-bottomed and being used on burners similar in diameter. Incompatible cookware will not heat the food properly, causing most people to assume something is wrong with one of the stove range elements.

    • 3

Turn off the range burners and wait for them to cool completely. Remove each burner coil, if your model has them, and plug it into its element securely. If the burner coils are not plugged in solidly, the electric connection will not establish and heat the burner.

    • 4

Ensure all the burners are off and clean the glass surface in accordance with GE's recommendations. Use ceramic cook-top cleaner and a soft dry cloth if you have a glass-top range. Neglecting to clean the range elements or improperly doing so can cause scratches, pitting and other permanent damage.

    • 5

Ensure the electric stove is plugged into the outlet securely if the stove still does not work.

    • 6

Check the home's circuit breaker, and reset it if it has been tripped. Check the fuse box for any blown fuses and replace as needed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Discoloration of glass range elements often occurs from either improper cleaning.
