How to Use a PDA As a Method of Communication

Communicating can be quick and convenient with a personal digital assistant (PDA).

A personal digital assistant (PDA) allows users to organize their schedules and contacts, and communicate with other people. Those who use their PDAs usually have a wireless Internet connection, which facilitates communication through email and text messaging. Using a PDA to communicate with another person is simple and can save time and provide convenience when a computer or cell phone is unavailable. The Palm TX Handheld is a popular PDA for communicating with others, and often includes the same functions as other handheld personal digital assistants which have Internet access options.

Things You'll Need

• Palm TX Handheld PDA (or similar PDA that can access a Wi-Fi connection)

Instructions

Communicate Through Email

1. Power on the Palm TX PDA.

2. Tap the words "Wi-Fi" into the PDA status bar to connect to a local wireless Internet network.

3. When the network dialogue box appears, select the network to which you wish to connect. Enter the appropriate encryption keys if the network is secured.

4. Open your email messaging system. This might be Microsoft Outlook or any other email platform that is installed on the Palm TX PDA. Compose or reply to messages.

Text Messaging

1. On the desktop of the Palm TX, go to the Applications menu and open "SMS."

2. Select "New" and type in the recipient's name or mobile number.

3. Type your message in the boxed area below the "To" line. Click "Send" to send the message to the recipient.
