How to Find the Oil Drain Plug on a Honda Nighthawk

The Honda Nighthawk has been cruising the streets all around the world for more than two decades. The bike combines classic styling with ease of operation. The low front fork gives the rider more steering control. The four-stroke engine gives the bike power to zip through any city street. Like any motor vehicle, maintenance is the key to long mechanical life. Knowing the locations of fluid ports and plugs are a necessary part of maintenance for any bike.

Instructions

1. Park the motorcycle on a level surface. Make sure that the stand is level and secure.

2. Check the temperature of the exhaust pipes. Allow hot pipes to cool.

3. Place a drain pan under the bike. Whenever handling the plug, make sure that there is something to catch any leaking oil.

4. Find the crank case. It is located in the lower, center section of the bike.

5. Find the oil plug. The plug is located on the lower right side of the crank case.

Tips & Warnings

• Use your fingers or rubber-tipped pliers to remove the oil plug so that the plug isn't damaged.

• Make sure the bike is stable before working on the engine.

• Replace any oil that might leak before starting the engine.
