How to Troubleshoot a Bissell Vacuum With No Suction
Bissell is a prominent vacuum manufacturer that has a diverse lineup of vacuums with features such as pet hair nozzles, HEPA filters and strong suction power. Despite their differences, most Bissell vacuum models are manufactured similarly. This comes in handy when you are fixing a Bissell vacuum, as each machine is created similarly to the others. Thus, if your vacuum does not have any suction, troubleshoot it. Your problem may be something as simple as a broken drive belt or a filled dirt container. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

1
Unplug the machine and put it in the upright position.
-
2
Remove the dirt canister by sliding the lever to the unlocked position or by pressing the dirt canister release button. The release button or lever is generally located on the dirt canister handle, the front of the dirt canister or just above it.
-
-
3
Pour the dirt into a trashcan.
-
4
Remove the secondary cyclone by pulling it out of the machine. The secondary cyclone is located above the dirt canister cavity.
-
5
Check the suction inlet for clogs. Remove any clogs with a long-handle brush. The suction inlet is located above where the secondary cyclone was installed.
-
6
Replace the secondary cyclone by pressing it into the machine until you hear it lock into place. Replace the dirt canister by sliding the lever to the locked position. If the vacuum has a release button, press the canister until you hear it click into place.
-
7
Step on the handle release bar and lower the handle to the floor. Turn the machine over so that you can access the brushes.
-
8
Remove the brush cover by removing the six screws that hold it in place.
-
9
Remove the floor brush. Clean the lint and hair off the floor brush with your fingers and a pair of scissors. Excess lint and hair can cause the brush to stop rotating and the machine to lose suction.
-
10
Remove the drive belt if it is broken by pulling it from the machine.
-
11
Install a new drive belt by wrapping one end around the motor pulley and the other end around the grooved space on the left side of the floor brush. Do not twist the belt.
-
12
Press the brush into the brush cavity until you hear it snap into place. The belt should be stretched taught. Rotate the floor brush to see if it turns the pulley. This will confirm that you installed it correctly.
-
13
Replace the brush cover.
