Using Garmin's "Tracks" feature may keep you from becoming lost in the woods.

Hand-held Garmin GPS devices are designed for outdoor use while performing activities like hiking or camping. These devices provide users with a basemap of forests, parks, mountains and bodies of water. This detailed basemap is used to display information such as current direction, elevation and traveling speed. As a user travels, a track log may be created. A track log displays the exact path that the user is traveling, which may be useful to keep from getting lost. If tracks are getting stuck together, this can be fixed by changing a few settings.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Menu" button twice, then select "Tracks."

    • 2

Highlight the "Setup" option and select it.

    • 3

Change the settings to record tracks so that they not joined together. Choose "Record Method" to record tracks after certain time or distance intervals have passed. Select a specific interval for recording in the "Interval" menu. Tracks are no longer recorded together on the screen.
