An esthetician gives facials and applies skin care products and treatments.

Texas law identifies an esthetician as a facialist. Facialists hold a specialty license, a variation of a cosmetology license, and are authorized to apply facial cosmetics, perform facial manipulations, remove hair by wax, tweezers or depilatory and to work on lashes and brows. Anyone working in the state of Texas and claiming to be an esthetician must hold a facialist license. The city of Dallas does not require an esthetician to have an additional license to perform their services within city limits.
