How to Repair Overhead Projector Bulbs

Repairing the bulbs of an overhead projector is an easy task that should take no more than a few minutes to complete. Many overhead projectors are made to allow easy access to the bulbs so you can repair them quickly and efficiently. Bulbs burn out and need replacement often because overhead projectors are used frequently. Most overhead projectors are made similar to one another to make replacing parts and other repairs an easier task.

Things You'll Need

• New projector bulb
• Screwdriver or coin

Instructions

1. Unplug the overhead projector from the electrical outlet.

2. Squeeze the head lock and lower the head so it rests in a lowered position without holding it. Many lamps lock into place in this lowered position.

3. Open the compartment housing the bulb. It should simply snap open, or you can use a coin or flathead screwdriver to pry it open.

4. Pull the lamp ejection lever rearward to gain access to the bulb.

5. Pull the bulb out from its socket. Be careful when handling the bulb as it could be hot if the overhead projector was in use recently.

6. Push a new bulb into the socket and push the ejection lever forward to lock it in place.

7. Close the bulb compartment and make sure it locks into place when you hear a snap.
