How to Set Up a Wizard for Linksys Wireless Adapters

A wireless adapter allows a user to connect to wireless networks without having an internal wireless antenna. Linksys creates USB wireless adapters that make it extremely easy to add wireless capabilities to computers. The Linksys adapters include software that walks you through the process of installation and connecting to your network, known as a "Setup" or "installation wizard." The whole process is relatively quick and easy.

• Linksys software disc

Instructions

1. Disconnect the Linksys wireless adapter, if it is currently connected to the computer.

2. Insert the software disc into your computer's disc drive. The installation wizard will automatically launch. At the "Welcome" screen, click "Start" and "Next."

3. Connect the wireless adapter and click "Next." The installation wizard will detect wireless networks within range.

4. Select your desired network and click "Connect." Enter the security pass-phrase. Click "Next," review your settings and click "Save." The install wizard will display a congratulations message, then click "Connect to Network" to connect to the wireless network and close the wizard.

Tips & Warnings

• To access the wizard again in the future, right-click the "Linksys Wireless Manager" icon in the System Tray (lower-right corner) and select "View Wireless Networks."
