How to Measure Flat-Panel Screens

There is a specific way to measure a flat-panel screen.

Flat-panel screen measurements are obtained in a certain way that not everyone knows. You might assume that a flat-panel screen is measured in length or height, but that is not how the inch measurement is obtained. A flat-panel screen is actually measured diagonally, like a traditional TV screen, from corner to corner.

• Tape measure

Instructions

1. Place your tape measure at the bottom-left corner of your flat-panel screen.

2. Extend the tape measure to the top-right corner of the flat-panel screen.

3. Take the measurement, in inches, of the length between the botton-left and top-right corners, diagonally. The measurement in inches is the number you are looking for when someone asks you what size flat-panel screen you have or when you are looking to purchase a wall mount.
