How Can I Screen My Garage?

A garage screen allows you to enjoy the outdoors while keeping the bugs out of the area. You can sit in your garage or work in it at night with the garage door open and not worry about mosquitoes flying in during that time. You can also sit in the garage with the door open while enjoying a breeze and stay protected from the beaming sun. To build a screen for your garage, you need Velcro tape and a screening material you can purchase from a hardware store.

Things You'll Need

• Measuring tape
• Ladder
• Velcro hook and loop tape
• Fiberglass screen
• Scissors

Instructions

1. Measure your garage horizontally using your tape measure. Add two inches to the measurement.

2. Open your ladder. Climb to the top of your garage opening with your tape measure. Measure your garage opening vertically to the floor of the garage. Add two inches to the measurement.

3. Visit your local hardware store and purchase five rolls of hook and loop tape. Also purchase fiberglass screening that fits the measurements you made earlier.

4. Roll the hook and loop tape out horizontally on the ground of your garage nearest the opening with the sticky hook side down. Cut the tape at the end of the garage opening. Complete rolling out the tape on the remaining three sides of the garage opening.

5. Roll out the screen flat on the ground. Remove the hook side of the tape from the loop side that you adhered to the floor of the garage. Place the sticky side of the loop tape on the bottom of the screen. Repeat the process for the remaining three sides of the garage.

6. Stick the loop tape on each side of the screen to each piece of hook tape adhered to each side of the garage opening.
