How to Remove House Rivets on Siding
Rivets are a fastening device to hold two pieces of material together. A hole is drilled in the objects, the rivet is inserted and a special tool tightens the rivet. The rivet holds the materials together by "mushrooming" out on the back side of the second piece of material, which squeezes the materials between the mushroom head and the top of the rivet. Rivets are used in siding to hold pieces of trim in place. Sometimes you may need to remove a rivet to readjust or replace the trim. Does this Spark an idea?

If debris remains in the hole, clean it out by running the drill bit in and out of the hole a few times. Take care not to enlarge the hole any further -- especially if you need to install a replacement rivet.
