How to Say Thank You for a Monetary Gift
Every gift requires a thank you card in return and monetary gifts are of no exception. It is important to acknowledge the gift and the person who gave it to you. There is a particular style and etiquette to writing a thank you note for a monetary gift that doesn't address the amount of money but instead focuses on your appreciation for the gift.

To show your sincere appreciation of the monetary gift, it is generally best to use a more formal tone. Write the date in the top right corner of the note, and address the recipient by writing "Dear ... ." How formal you are depends on how well you know the person you are thanking.

When writing your thanks for the monetary gift you should usually not include the amount of money. Instead, write: "Thank you for the generous gift," and then write a little about what it means to you and maybe some potential plans for how it will contribute to your life.

End the note by shifting the subject from thanks into some information about what you have been up to, as well as a few questions that are directed toward the recipient. Close the letter with well-wishes and with a "Yours," or a "Sincerely,", followed by your name and signature.
