How to Measure for Cot Sheets
In the United States, cots are also known as cribs, and require specially-sized sheets and bedding since cot mattresses are, quite naturally, smaller than adult mattresses. It is important to accurately measure your cot in order to purchase the correct size sheets. Sheets that are too big can become bunched and create a possible hazard for a sleeping baby; similarly, sheets that are too small can come loose at the corners and do the same. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

-
1
Remove the mattress from the crib in order to get the most accurate measurement. Place the mattress on a flat surface.
-
2
Use the tape measure to measure the height, width and length of the mattress.
-
-
3
Lay the fitted sheet face down on a flat work surface. Fold the elastic sides over to create a rectangle.
-
4
Measure the length of the folded sides from the fold to the elastic. This measurement should be at least 3 inches longer than the measurement of the height of the mattress.
-
5
Measure the length and width of the rectangle. These measurements should be at least equal to the length and width of the cot mattress.

Tips & Warnings
Sheets made out of 100% cotton will likely shrink by about 2%, so take that into account when measuring.
