Bobbins that are not properly thread may cause thread tangles.

Threading a bobbin correctly is the first step in sewing a project. A bobbin holds the back of the stitch in place so that the sewing does not come off of the fabric. Threading the bobbin correctly is crucial to the stability of the stitch.

Instructions

      Lift the presser foot up and raise the needle. Use the dial on the side of the machine to move the needle up.

      Slide the bobbin compartment forward to reveal the bobbin older. The flat, horizontal plate under the presser foot is the bobbin plate.

      Hold the bobbin so the thread wraps around it counterclockwise. Drop the bobbin into the compartment and hold the end of the thread.

      Pull the end of the bobbin thread through the notch along the left side of the bobbin compartment. Pull the thread through and hold it together with the thread from the needle.

      Lower the needle with the dial. Keep turning the dial until the needle dips down into the bobbin.

      Bring the needle back up out the bobbin. The needle will pull a loop of the bobbin thread out with it.

      Let go of the bobbin thread you are holding and pull the loop of thread out from the compartment. Slide the plate back into place.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use different colored thread fro the bobbin to create an interesting stitch on your projects.

  • Do not thread you machine when it is connected to power because you could accidently cause the needle to move and injure yourself.
