How to Make a Spa Towel
Going to the spa is a tranquil retreat. The treatments, music and even towels allow you to relax. Bring some of that luxury into your home for daily moments of relaxation. If you like the comfort and ease of towel wraps used at the spa, don't spend a lot of money on store-bought towel wraps. With basic sewing knowledge and a few supplies, you can create your own inexpensive spa towel for yourself, your child or for a gift.

1
Choose a large, thin bath towel or bath sheet. Make sure the towel is large enough for the person using the finished product to wrap the towel around her torso and overlap by about 6 inches.
-
2
Lay the towel flat on a work surface with the longer ends parallel to the edge of the table.
-
-
3
Cut an 8-inch piece of hoop-and-loop tape. A width of 1 to 1-1/2 inches works best.
-
4
Pin the fuzzy piece of the hoop-and-loop tape horizontally along the top left side of the towel. Pin 1 inch to 1-1/2 inches below the top edge.
-
5
Turn the towel over and spread it out horizontally.
-
6
Pin the rough side of the hook-and-loop tape horizontally on the top right side. Pin 1 to 1-1/2 inches below the top edge.
-
7
Use a zig-zag stitch or a straight-stitch to sew both pieces of the hoop-and-loop tape to the towel. Stitch all four sides of each piece.

Tips & Warnings
If you want to add color or pattern to the towel, try creating a pleated frilly edge out of a cotton fabric and sewing vertically down the towel.
Avoid excessively thick towels. Your sewing machine may not work well with a thick fabric.
