How to Fold a Towel Basket

A stripped towel makes an adorable basket.

Turn a gift towel and wash cloth into a basket to hold a selection of small toiletries or a set of towels. Make the basket with a hooded towel and baby washcloth and fill it with baby shampoo and a rubber duck, for an inexpensive, but memorable, baby shower gift. This basket could also be made out of a beach towel and filled with beach toys for a gift for a child, or a sun hat and sunscreen for a gift for an adult. A towel basket is also a cute container for a selection of spa products.

Things You'll Need

• Towel
• Safety pins
• Wash cloth
• Gifts

Instructions

1. Fold the towel in half by bringing the short sides together.

2. Lay the towel on a table with the fold at the bottom.

3. Fold the top third of the towel down. Fold the bottom third of the towel up. Press the two folds flat.

4. Bring the sides of the folded towel together and insert one side into the other, sticking it between the top and bottom folds. Pin the ends of the towels in place on the inside using safety pins.

5. Pick up the towel and set it on the lower folded edge. Put the pinned side in the back. It should be a doughnut shape.

6. Reach inside and fold down the bottom third you folded up to make a bottom for the basket.

7. Roll a wash cloth diagonally and pin it in place for a handle.

8. Fill the basket with more towels or other gift items.

Tips & Warnings

• Roll some tissue paper into the handle to help it stand up better.

• Fill the bottom with tissue paper if you don't have enough gift items to fill the basket.

• The bottom of this display is not very secure; place the basket on a tray or piece of cardboard before you fill it.
