How to Change Radio Sirius to XM

When the merger of Sirius and XM took place in July 2008, consumers hoped one tuner would receive all channels offered by the satellite service. Unfortunately, this did not happen, and the two still operate as separate services. If you have Sirius but would prefer XM, there is currently no way to convert because the tuners are not compatible. However, you can get it the old-fashioned way: by changing service.

Instructions

1. Purchase an XM satellite tuner. They are available at Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Radio Shack.

2. Call XM Radio at 800-967-2346 to activate service and transfer your Sirius subscription.

3. Connect the radio and antenna to a portable unit or automobile. If you have a car with a Sirius receiver already installed, use the vehicle mounting kit. You'll find it where tuners are sold.

4. Turn the unit on to make sure it is working.
