How to Get Gum Out of a Dryer Drum
Gum sticks to dryer drums. It usually comes from the inside of a pocket from an article of clothing. The gum melts from the heat of the dryer. The gum removes easier when cold, so wait until the dryer drum completely cools. Cold gum is less sticky than warm gum. Leaving gum in the dryer causes it to spread onto other clothes. Lint also sticks to the gum. Use various methods to remove the gum. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Peanut butter
- Plastic knife
- Plastic putty knife
- Spray bottle
- White distilled vinegar
- Rags
- Zipper bags
- Ice
- Masking tape
Instructions

Peanut Butter

Spread peanut butter over the gum. The entire piece of gum must be covered.

Leave the peanut butter to sit on the gum for 10 to 15 minutes.

Slide the edge of the putty knife underneath the gum. Scrape off the gum and peanut butter.

Fill an empty, clean spray bottle with vinegar. Spray the area where the peanut butter and gum was with vinegar. Wipe clean with a rag.
Detergent

Wet a rag with warm water. Wring out the excess water.

Pour a drop of laundry detergent on the rag.

Scrub the gum with the rag until the gum is gone.
Ice

Place six to nine large ice cubes in a plastic zipper bag and close the bag.

Set the bag on top of the gum.

Hold the bag in place with masking tape, if necessary.

Leave the ice on the gum for 20 to 30 minutes.

Remove the bag and tape. Scrape off the gum with the plastic putty knife. Clean the area with vinegar.
