How to Restore Mannequins
Mannequins are an indispensable display tool for anyone running a clothing store. The right mannequin with the right display can catch the attention of customers walking past your store. While it is easy to purchase second-hand mannequins from larger retail stores, you will most likely have to clean up and restore the mannequins before displaying them in your shop window.

- Rubbing alcohol
- Cloth
- Epoxy glue
- Masking tape
- Sandpaper
- Enamel paint
- Paint brush

Rub off any dirt and dust with a cloth dabbed in rubbing alcohol. Slowly and gently clean every part of the mannequin and let it dry.

Reattach any broken fingers with epoxy glue. Carefully apply the epoxy mixture smoothly and thinly on the broken surface and reconnect it to the mannequin. Use masking tape to hold the piece in place until it is completely dry. Sand the area around the reattached piece with sandpaper to smooth out any rough edges or dry epoxy.

Repaint the mannequin using a paint brush and enamel paint matching the color of the mannequin. Apply the paint in smooth, thin brush strokes. Apply another coat after the first coat has dried.

Tips & Warnings
Bring a limb from your mannequin to a home hardware store and ask them to match the skin pigment to a can of enamel paint.
Don't apply too much paint in one coat, as this will dry unevenly. It is better to paint two thin coats of paint than it is to paint one heavy coat.
