How Do I Install UVC Filters for Ponds?
In the summertime, it is almost impossible to keep your pond free of algae without the help of a UV clarifying filter, or UVC filter. These filtration devices use UV lights to kill off algae and make your pond clear. A UVC filter contains a quartz tube, which doubles the filter's efficiency compared to other filters. UV clarifying filters are typically installed just before the pump's filter but are not submersed in the pond itself. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Purchase a UVC filter that is appropriate for the size of your pond and the amount of fish you have.
-
2
Place the filter on a flat surface out of direct sunlight.

3
Remove the rings holding the quartz tubes together. Unscrew the end and pull the tubes out. Remove the plastic rings used for transport and rescrew the end back in place.

4
Remove the couplings on the water filter and install the hoses to the appropriate connectors, as designated by your UVC filter's manual. The filter should be fed by the pump's intake hose.
