How to Beat the Djose Temple in "Final Fantasy X"

"Final Fantasy X" is arguable one of the best games in the "Final Fantasy" series because it offers many different things to do, such as solving puzzles to beat temples and the minigames Blitzball, Chocobos and Beast Hunting. As the temples go, the Djose Temple is one of the quickest to defeat if you know what you are doing. If you don't, however, you can find yourself stuck inside for hours, struggling to figure out what to do.

Instructions

  1. The First Level

    • 1

      Enter the Djose Temple's Cloister of Trials. You will find yourself in a room, an antechamber of sorts, with a sealed door directly in front of you. To the left and the right there are walls that have Djose Spheres inserted into sphere slots.

      Remove each Djose Sphere from its respective wall and place it in a sphere slot near the door in turn. The door will open after the second sphere is inserted.

      Go through the door into the next room. Eventually you will come to another door that has a pedestal standing in front of it over a glyph (Yevon's Glyph) on the floor. Note that there are two spheres in the wall near the door.

      Remove the spheres, one at a time, from near the door and place them in the sphere slots on the long, flat wall to the right of the door. Notice that there is now electricity coming from what appears to be an inverted pedestal hanging from the ceiling.

      Return to the pedestal near the door. Stand on the west side of the pedestal and push it toward the electricity until it slides into place and becomes electrified too.

      Go to the far left side of the room and step on the glyph on the floor to return the pedestal to its original position in front of the door.

      Remove the now charged sphere from the pedestal and place it in the sphere slot next to the door. This will cause the door to open.

      Remove each of the spheres from the flat wall where you put them earlier and place them in the sphere slots on the pedestal.

      Slide the pedestal forward through the newly opened door until it plummets into the electrified pit. The pedestal will come back to the surface and hang there so that you can use it to jump to the other side of the pit.

      Cross the pit to the other side. Push the waiting pedestal into place. This will trigger part Yevon's Glyph to light up. Cross the pit again to go back into the previous room.

      Go to the left side of the room and step on the glyph on the floor again to return the pedestal to its original place. Return to the pedestal.

      Remove the spheres from the pedestal one at a time and return each one to the antechamber. Put them into the wall slots from which you removed the two spheres to open the first door. Each one will light up another part of Yevon's Glyph.

      Return to the room with Yevon's Glyph. Remove the electrified sphere that you used to open the door and place it in the slot to left of the door. This will light the final section of Yevon's Glyph and cause the pedestal to disappear. An elevator will now appear on the floor where Yevon's Glyph is. Before you get on the elevator, go back to the far left side of the room.

      Notice a shining glyph on the north wall. Touch the glyph and the wall will open up revealing a Destruction Sphere. Take the Destruction Sphere and return to the elevator. Get on the elevator and ride it to the next level.

    The Second Level

      Step off the elevator. To the north of the elevator there will be five pedestals that need to be pushed into the alcoves behind them.

      Push all five pedestals into place. A new pedestal will appear near the elevator and a staircase will be revealed to the west. Do not go up the stairs yet.

      Go to the pedestal and place the Destruction Sphere in it. This will bust open a wall, revealing a treasure. The treasure is a Magic Sphere that can be used in the Sphere Grid. Get the treasure and then head up the stairs.

    Upstairs and Beyond

    • 18

      Meet with Dona. Speak to your party members, then attempt to leave the room. Yuna will return. This will trigger you to rest and, upon awaking in the inn, you will have your new summon creature, Ixion -- the electric unicorn.

      Exit the inn and talk to your party members. Re-enter the Djose Temple. Once inside, find the priestess on the right and talk to her. Yuna will wake.

      Exit the temple. You are now free to leave the area. After you explore (if you haven't already) and save, go back across the bridge and take the road to the west and head for the Moonflow.

Tips & Warnings

  • This process can be somewhat time-consuming. Make sure you save immediately before and after completing -- just in case.
