How to Store a Utility Trailer
Utility trailers are frequently used to store and transport large items that cannot fit in a traditional car or truck. Utility trailers do not have engines and need to be attached to a towing vehicle to get from one location to another. Utility trailers are rarely used consistently and frequently need to be stored when they are not needed. Since a utility trailer does not have any engine components or fuel requirements, they are normally simple to store.

Instructions

1
Wash off the trailer with a sponge, warm water and mild detergent to remove any dirt, grease or debris. Allow the trailer to fully dry.
-
2
Move the trailer into a garage or storage space if you have one available. The trailer will be kept in better overall shape if it is kept indoors, especially if it is stored for an extended period.
-
-
3
Inflate the tires with an air pump. The inside rim of the tire should have the recommended tire pressure marked on it. Keeping the tires properly inflated will help prevent them from deteriorating.
-
4
Place the trailer plug and any additional wires into a plastic sandwich bag and tie it closed with a twist tie.
-
5
Cover the trailer with a tarp to protect against dust buildup. If the trailer is outdoors, it also protects against the elements.
-
6
Jack up the trailer up to further protect the tires from corrosion.
-
7
Check the tire pressure on the trailer once a month and re-inflate them as necessary to keep the pressure optimal.
