Allow the cans to heat for about three minutes, or until you hear the water inside start to bubble. Grip the bottom of the nearest can with tongs. Lift it straight up into the air, turn it over, and plunge it into the cold water all in one motion. The can will collapse because of opposing temperatures.

Continue plunging all of your cans into the water. You can let the cans float in the water until you're finished or set them in a pile to the side.
