Fixing plastic zippers can be done with a few basic steps.

Plastic zippers can get stuck sometimes, resulting in damage to the teeth. Sometimes zippers may stop functioning although the item its attached to may still be in good condition. Instead of going to the lengths of ripping out the zipper and replacing it, you can simply repair it. Repairing your plastic zipper can save you time and money.

Instructions

    • 1

      Locate the defective area of the plastic zipper. Align both sides of the zipper together and use a flathead screwdriver to insert each tooth of the zipper into its mate.

      Pull the zipper slider slowly over the uneven area and up to the top of the zipper.

    • 3

      Sew across the area where the defect is several times to prevent the problem form occurring again. Make a few big stitches across the uneven area with a hand sewing needle. Pull the slider up and down until your plastic zipper slides smoothly again.
