How to Troubleshoot Wireless
Wireless Internet allows users a level of convenience that is unavailable on standard, wired Internet. Unlike wired Internet, wireless Internet allows gives users mobility, as the location of a computer need not be limited by the length of an Ethernet cable. As useful an innovation as wireless Internet is, however, it also has the tendency to develop issues with the ability of users to connect. Fortunately, Windows 7 has a tool to help you diagnose and fix wireless connectivity issues.

Open the "Start" menu.

Click on "Control Panel."

Click on "Network and Sharing Center."

Click on "Troubleshoot Problems."

Follow the troubleshooting wizard's instructions. When asked which connection you would like to troubleshoot, select "Wireless Network Connection." Click "Next." Wait for the troubleshooting wizard to attempt to diagnose the problem. When this is finished, the wizard will ask you to try a series of things to get your connection working. After following the instructions for a step, click on "Check to see if the problem is fixed," and Windows will test your connection. If you are unwilling or unable to try any single solution, click on "Skip this step."

Contact your wireless network's administrator for help if all of the solutions that Windows provides end up being ineffective. If you are the wireless network administrator, contact your router's support line for assistance.
