How to Change the Blade on a Fiskars Cutter
Rotary cutters have replaced the use of scissors for many creative projects. They fit in a hand more comfortably than scissors and are very fast to use, especially when cutting straight lines. These cutters are especially popular with quilters because fabric can remain flat while cut. To function effectively, the blades must be replaced on a regular basis. When a blade is dull, it drags on the fabric or other material. The result is a ragged edge. Changing the blade on a Fiskars rotary cutter is simple and requires only one minute of your time. The replacement blade should be manufactured by Fiskars.

1
Pull on work gloves to protect your hands from cuts. The cutter's old blade is still very sharp even after hard use.
-
2
Unscrew the orange plastic nut. It is on the inside edge of the handle on the cutter. This task should be accomplished easily with your fingers and should not require additional tools. Use a firm grip on the handle as you unscrew the nut.

3
Lift the old blade off the cutter. The used blade can be discarded.
-
4
Remove the new blade from its package, taking extreme care not to come into contact with its very sharp edges. Even though you wear gloves, careless handling can result in an injury.
-
5
Align the hole in the new blade with the nub in the cutter.
-
6
Replace the handle of the cutter. You should feel it click into place.
-
7
Replace the orange plastic nut. Tighten it with your fingers so that it is secure. It should be tight but not so tight that it requires tools to remove it the next time the blade is replaced.
Your cutter is now ready for use.
