Instructions

    • 1

Water croton petra only when the soil feels slightly dry to the touch. Water until water begins to run through the drainage hole in the bottom of the pot. Allow the pot to drain for 30 minutes, then pour the excess water out of the drainage saucer.

    • 2

Provide humidity for the croton petra. Place the plant on a tray or plate filled with wet pebbles. Keep the pebbles wet, but never add so much water that the bottom of the pot stands in water.

    • 3

Place croton petra in bright sunlight. Without adequate light, the fiery color of the foliage will fade. Keep the plant away from drafty doors and windows, warm appliances and heating or air conditioner vents. Room temperatures should be approximately 70 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and 10 to 15 degrees cooler at night.

    • 4

Feed croton petra once every month, using a liquid fertilizer that has been diluted to half strength. Apply the liquid fertilizer according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
