How to Get Rid of Error 1706
According to Microsoft, error 1706 is usually accompanied by the message "Setup cannot find the required files. Check your connection to the network, or CD-ROM drive. For other potential solutions to this problem, see C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\1033\Setup.hlp." The messages occur when Office is run to repair a problem or install a feature. The files on the installation CD are compressed while the administrative installation files are not compressed. The result is error 1706 because the Windows installer is unable to resolve the differences between the two types of files.
