How to Create a Restore CD for a Gateway

Gateway computers can be restored to their factory settings. On Gateway computers that run on Windows XP, you have to create restore CDs in Gateway's Recovery Media Creator. Newer versions of Gateway computers have a recovery drive installed onto the computer, so you do not create any restoration discs. This creator will guide you through the steps needed to create the CDs needed to restore your Gateway computer.

      Click the "Start" button. Highlight "All Programs," then "System Recovery." Select "Recovery Media Creator."

      Click "Start Creation." The program will now tell you how many CDs you need as different Gateway computers require different amount of CDs. Click "Yes" to continue.

      Place the first blank CD into the Gateway computer's CD drive. Click "OK." Place the next CD in when prompted. Continue until the program says that it is complete.

  • Only use the CDs as a last-ditch effort to repair your Gateway computer.

  • CDs scratch easily, so handle with care.
