How to Install a Battery Box
You can install battery boxes in a car to mount and protect a battery from external influences. The box is usually constructed of a high grade and coated metal. Another feature of the box is a hold down plate, which secures the battery into the box. You can easily install your new battery box in your car in a single afternoon and you don't even need any special tools or hardware to do it.

1
Choose a location to install the box. You can put it on the floor of the trunk or in the rear passenger side of the vehicle for ideal weight distribution.
-
2
Set the box into position in the car and place the battery holding plate onto the base of the box. Use the plate as a template for drilling through the box and the car.
-
-
3
Use a power drill to make the holes through the box. These holes will allow you to attach the box to the car.
-
4
Place the battery into the box and mark off where the cables connect to the battery. This will allow the cables to pass through the box when the battery is installed.
-
5
Drill out the marked holes for the cables and insert the included grommets. Make an additional hole in the side and floor of the box for the ventilation tubing.
-
6
Center the drilled holes in the drill plate over the drilled holes in the box floor. Place the box and plate into the car and make sure all of the holes are in line.
-
7
Insert the bolts through the holes and secure them with a wrench from under the car with nuts. The box should be held firmly in place when tightened enough.
-
8
Slide the battery into the box and feed the cables though the grommets you installed. You can now access the wires for connecting the battery.
-
9
Set the lid on the box and close all of the locks to hold it on properly.
