How to Register a DBA in Colorado

When a business is being run under any name other than the legal name of the business owner, most states require that the business file a DBA (doing business as) certification. In the state of Colorado, the name you perform business under is called a trade name. In an effort to keep files on all of the individuals behind a business, Colorado requires that you file a trade name for your business with the Secretary of State's office. Trade name registration is done through an online form on the Secretary of State's website.
