How to Install an Amplifier & Noise Suppressor
Installing a home amplifier is a virtually instant way to shore up the sonics of any stereo or home theater system. Teamed with an inline noise suppression device, these amplifiers can provide explosive sound, with a silent background during quiet passages. Installing most amplifiers is a standardized process, with a unit from one manufacturer not differing abnormally from another. The process itself requires minimal tools, and is designed to culminate in a better audio experience.
Things You'll Need
- Preamplifier
- Amplifier
- RCA cables
- Speaker wire
- Wire stripper
- Wire cutters
- Ferrite noise suppressor
Instructions

1
Access the back panel of the preamp and amp. Find the preamp RCA cluster on the rear of the preamp, and the corresponding RCA inputs on the amplifier.
-
2
Plug the RCA cables from the preamp outputs to the matching inputs on the amplifier.
-
-
3
Cut the speaker wires to length as needed. Strip 1/2 inch from each end of all speaker wires in use. Rotate the binding posts counterclockwise to expose the post holes. Repeat this on the back of each speaker in use.
-
4
Slide the bare wire into the exposed binding post holes on the amplifier, and the corresponding terminals on each speaker. Rotate the binding posts clockwise to secure the wires.
-
5
Plug the amplifier's supplied power cord into the amp (if detachable.) Snap the ferrite noise suppressor over the amplifier's power cord, close to the amplifier.
