How to Sell Your CDs from Your MySpace
These days, social media provides an outlet for more than just showcasing pictures of friends and family. If you're a budding musician, you can also use social media sites to showcase your latest work. MySpace, in particular, is a veritable hotbed of unsigned musicians trolling for their big break. If you are going to use MySpace to showcase your music and sell CDs, there is a certain process you should follow to ensure your success.

1
Make your MySpace page exclusive to your music. Think of it as a promotional tool similar to a regular website, which means don't include personal effects on your page. If your MySpace page is, in fact, your artist space and the place from which you will sell CDs, then fans should not be inundated with pictures of your children or comments back and forth with friends and family. Keep it professional.

2
Keep your MySpace page updated. Fans don't want to check back consistently only to find that you've gone weeks without updating your page. Ideally, you should provide an update on something you are doing with your music each day or at least every other day.

Provide sound clips on your page for new and existing fans. Don't offer entire songs; otherwise, there is no reason for fans to purchase a CD. Give them just a taste of your music--enough to pique their interest--and then direct them to the portion of your page where they can purchase CDs.

4
Make CDs available for sale right on your front page. Too many people make the mistake of selling their music on subsequent pages of their MySpace profiles. So you don't confuse people, place a prominent button right on the front page that people can use to make an online purchase of your CDs. It's best to use a third-party payment service, such as Paypal, to ensure security and avoid any check-out hassles with people paying online. You can download a button from a third-party site in HTML code to place right on your MySpace page to represent a shopping card button for secure checkout.

Ship sold CDs in a timely fashion. Once a fan has made a purchase on your MySpace page, send the CD out the same day if possible. You don't want to keep fans waiting for your music, and you don't want them to feel as though they may have been swindled for their money.
