How to Write a Resume for a College Internship
A college internship can be the perfect opportunity to gain entry-level experience in a field in addition to potential opportunities for advancement after graduation. Regardless of the type of internship you are looking for, a well written resume that highlights your most impressive academic achievements and relevant experience is one of the most vital components of the application process. Your college internship resume should give your potential employer an idea of your strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.

Write the header for your resume. Include your name, your college or university name, your permanent address (on or off-campus), your phone number, and your school email address.

Write your "Objective" section, which is a brief statement that describes your immediate goals in terms of what college internship you want and why.

Write your "Education" section, which lists all of your degrees and schools attended, beginning with the current school and moving backwards chronologically. Include the name and location of the institutions, the date you graduated or attended, your major and type of degree received, your GPA, and any honors you received.

Write your "Skills" section. This section is typically found near the end of a resume, but for college students applying for internships, it is usually best to put it above your "Experience" section. Include a list of any skills that are relevant to your internship, such as experience with specific computer programs or language fluency.

Write your "Experience" section, which may include part-time jobs, other internships and volunteer work. Include the name of the company or organization, your job title, the dates of your employment, and a short list (3-5 points) of duties you held at each. The University of Pittsburgh Johnstown recommends that you use a mix of action verbs (i.e. "managed," "trained") and nouns (i.e. "assistant," "administrator") in your list of duties.

Write your "Activities and Interests" section, which should include a bullet-point list of extracurricular activities, community work, and hobbies you enjoy. Ideally, all of this information (including the above steps) should fit onto one page, so choose those activities most relevant to the internship.

Write your "References" section on the second page and include three or four individuals, such as former bosses or professors, who you feel will give you a positive review if contacted. Include their name and title (i.e. "Professor of Linguistics"), the address of their school or organization, and their work phone number and email address.
