How to Check a Discover Gift Card

Check your balances of your Discover gift card often.

The Discover Network now offers gift cards that are much like a debit card or other type of gift card. These prepaid cards can be used wherever Discover Network cards are accepted. These gift cards expire two years after purchase, and a fee will be deducted after 12 consecutive months of inactivity after activation. Check your balance on the card every so often. This can be done in one of two ways.

Instructions

1. Go to DiscoverGiftCardBalance.com.

2. Type in your card number and your "Cardmember ID." This ID is the last three digits on the back of the gift card. A new screen will appear, showing how much is remaining on your gift card.

3. Call the toll-free Discover Gift card hotline at 866-522-7026 if you don't have access to the Internet or if you would rather call. You will be asked for your card number and the Cardmember ID.

Tips & Warnings

• Write down the credit card number, the expiration date and the Cardmember ID and put that information a safe place. That way you will have it in case your card is stolen.

• Treat your Discover gift card as you would a regular debit or credit card. If you suspect fraudulent charges or if your card is stolen, contact Discover Network immediately.
