How to Program a New Volkswagen Valet Key

Your valet key is programmed in the same way as your regular car key.

Valet keys are specifically designed for those instances when you hand over your car and your keys to a valet. The valet key allows the valet to move your car into a designated parking spot, but will not open the trunk or glove compartment. The programming process for your valet key is the same as it is for your regular keys, but you will need your everyday key to program your valet key.

Instructions

1. Get into your vehicle. Insert your valet key into the ignition and turn the key as far as you can in the "On" position without cranking the engine.

2. Get out of the car and close the door behind you, leaving the valet key in the ignition. Place your regular car key in the driver's door and turn the key to lock the car manually.

3. Remove the key from the driver's door. Push the "Unlock" button on your key fob twice.

4. Enter your car, turn the valet key to the "Off" position and remove it from the ignition. Your valet key is now programmed.
