How to Order a Credit Report Online
Federal law requires the three major credit reporting bureaus make your credit report available to you for free once every 12 months. Many financial experts recommend reviewing your credit report throughout the year. Keeping abreast of changes to your credit file can help you to raise or maintain your credit score. Your credit score is a numerical score based on your credit report that is used by lenders to determine your credit worthiness. Changes to your credit report could result in a lowering of your credit score, which can affect the likelihood of you being approved for credit.

Tips & Warnings
You do not need to retrieve all three credit reports from each credit reporting bureau at one time. You can opt to review the credit report from one bureau every four months. Doing so allows you to monitor your credit file throughout the year. Check only the box next to the first credit report, review the report and print it out. In four months, you can return and review the report from the next bureau. Compare the first report against subsequent reports for any changes.
A copy of your credit report from the three credit reporting bureaus can also be obtained by calling 1-877-322-8228. Be prepared to provide your Social Security number and date of birth.
