How to Cover a Note Pad
Note pads, which are small pads of paper designed for easy note-taking, are useful items. A note pad is made out of paper and, unfortunately, the covers of the note pad are usually made out of cardboard or cardstock. If the note pad cover gets wet, the entire pad is damaged as a result. Adding an additional cover to the note pad will prevent damage to the paper or ruining the pad.

Using a Book-type Note Pad Cover
-
1
Measure the note pad. Use a measuring tape if the note pad does not have the dimensions labeled on it. This prevents accidentally buying a cover that is too small. Note pad covers are available in office supply stores.
-
2
Open the note pad cover. The cover should open like a book or flip up, depending on the design.
-
-
3
Slip the cardboard back of the note pad into the slot of the cover. The slot is usually on the right hand side. Place the paper so that it is on top of the slot and easy to write on. Close the cover.
Using an Elastic Cover
-
4
Purchase a small elastic cover. Elastic covers stretch, so exact sizing is not necessary. A regular elastic book cover is appropriate for the note pad, regardless of the note pad type.
-
5
Slip the bottom or back of the note pad into one side of the cover. Elastic covers have pockets on the interior of both sides rather than a pocket only on one side. The right side of the cover goes on the back.
-
6
Stretch the cover to surround the note pad. Pull so that the pocket on the front reaches to the front cover of the note pad. Slip the cardboard front cover into the pocket. Adjust the elastic cover by tugging it slightly into place.

Tips & Warnings
Book-type covers are ideal for note pads with paper front covers or that open upward while elastic covers work best for note pads that open like a book.
