How to Create a Virtual Model for Kids Under 12
Tired of purchasing outfits that don't look quite as good off the department store mannequin? A virtual model software helps combat those regrets by letting you build an animated model of yourself based on specific measurements. You can then use your virtual model to try on clothing online before you take the plunge. Virtual models for children are especially helpful since their bodies can change from one week to the next. Keeping up with growth spurts can be as simple as inputting new dimensions to your home computer.

1
Choose a virtual model software. Several software packages enable you to build your own 3-D image where bodies can be customized to match the exact height and weight. Some additional features can match skin complexions and general hairstyles, such as an up-do or ponytail.

2
Install the software using instructions from the manual.

Find the measurements. Use a measuring tape to determine the child's height, as well as waist, chest and hip dimensions. Use a scale for the weight. If you want to build a general model for a child you can't measure directly, use the standard height and weight guidelines for a given age provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which publishes annual growth charts.

4
Input the dimensions when prompted by the virtual model software.
-
5
Upload a digital photo. There is no better way to customize a virtual model than with a child's picture. Choose a clear head shot that shows all facial features. It is preferable there be no hair in front of the face, unless that is the desired look for all dress-up options.
