How to Reset a Nuvi 765T

Resetting a GPS will give the user a clean slate in regard to storing maps and directions.

If you have a Garmin Nuvi 765T global position system, or GPS, and its screen freezes or its text begins to lag you may be able to restore optimal performance with a "Soft Reset" by sliding the power key to the left and holding it there for eight seconds. If this step fails, or if you have bought a used unit and wish to set it to its original condition, you may need to perform a "Master Reset." This procedure will erase all user data as well as return the unit to its factory settings.

Instructions

1. Turn off and unplug the unit.

2. Press and hold your finger on the lower right corner of the screen while turning the unit on. Once the unit powers on, release the power key.

3. Remove your finger from the screen when the "Do you really want to erase all user data?" message is displayed, then touch "Yes."

4. Follow the on-screen instructions when the unit resets.

5. Acquire a satellite signal by placing the device in an open area.
