How to Repot a Rubber Tree House Plant

The rubber tree is easy to grow as a house plant. Left alone, it can grow to 10 feet in height. You can prune it to keep it to the size you desire. This is a plant that you can water and then ignore while the soil dries. If you find that you have to water it more often than usual, the rubber tree needs to be repotted. The best time to repot the plant is late winter or early spring. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Buy a new planting pot that is one size larger than the one in which the rubber tree is growing. It should have holes in the bottom for drainage.

    • 2

Fill the pot halfway with potting soil.

    • 3

Lay the rubber tree plant on its side, on a layer of newspapers, and slide it out of the pot.

    • 4

Place the root ball in the new pot and check to make sure that you are planting it at the same depth at which it has been growing. You may need to add or remove soil from the pot to get it to the required depth.

    • 5

Fill the pot to within 1/2 inch of the rim with potting soil.

    • 6

Water the soil until water drains from the bottom of the pot.
