Instructions

    • 1

Make notes of any steps in your car kit's manual that include multiple types and sizes of screws. Sort them out in bowls to make identifying them easy. When tightening screws into place, make sure they're snug and tight. Avoid overtightening them and stripping the threads. Prevent this by applying a little hand soap or lubrication on the threads when screwing parts in place.

    • 2

Prevent screw loosening by using a dab of liquid thread lock when attaching metal parts together or screws requiring a nut. This will ensure snug fits and better performance. This will also prevent screws from getting loose and damaging the sprint car's inner components.

    • 3

Use grease on all moving and spinning parts. Make sure you coat the pieces but don't overdo it, as it can become a mess when running the sprint car for the first time.

    • 4

Take extra care when working on parts like the shocks and tire rods. Parts like this need to be a required length and size. Take care in measuring them out with a ruler to accurately mark and trim them. Hold them in place to ensure they were done correctly before securing them with glue.

    • 5

Put thought into the placement of the receiver box. Look for a flat area away from the motor or engine. Being too close can cause interference and glitching. To further prevent problems with glitching, insulate the receiver box from vibrations. Filling the box with foam rubber will aid in dampening vibration during operation.

    • 6

Clean off all the parts you plan to paint with lightly soapy water. Dry completely. Any water or grease will affect the paint's ability to stick, and it will chip off later. Decide on how you will paint your sprint car on paper, mapping it out for reference. This will help in preventing simple mistakes and help speed up the process. Use painter's tape to make clean sharp lines or designs. Finish the job with a coating of clear gloss or matte varnish to protect the paint from the elements.

    • 7

Assemble the finished parts to the chassis and secure the body down. Make sure all screws and joints are tight and secure.

Tips & Warnings

  • Read all directions and look over all diagrams before assembling parts. Knowing what needs to be done before diving in will save time later by preventing simple mistakes or oversights.
