How to Change the Cursor From Trailing

How to Change the Cursor From Trailing thumbnail
Pointers and cursors can have many effects, including a shadow.

Pointers and cursors can both have what is called a "trail." What that means is that there is a tail, of sorts, made up of copies of the pointer or the cursor that follow behind the main cursor or pointer. This can help the user to locate the pointer or cursor more easily. The trail can be adjusted in terms of length. It can also be turned off for those who prefer not to use it. In Windows Vista, turning the trail off is quite simple.

Instructions

    • 1

Minimize or close all windows so that the computer desktop is visible.

    • 2

Position the pointer over the desktop and right-click. A menu will appear.

    • 3

Move the pointer to the bottom of the menu and select "Personalize." A window will open, displaying several options from which to choose.

    • 4

Find and click on the "Mouse Pointers" option. A "Mouse Properties" option box will open.

    • 5

Locate the tab near the top that says "Pointer Options." Once this tab is selected there will be three options: "Motion," "Snap To" and "Visibility."

    • 6

Click inside the first box under the "Visibility" option. It is to the left of the words "Display pointer trails." The check mark in the box should go away at this time. This will deactivate the trails from the pointer as well as the cursor.

Click on the "Apply" button at the bottom of the options box. Finally, click on the "OK" button to complete the transition.
