How to Take Off Permanent Marker on Plastic

Nothing is permanent about a permanent marker.

Trying to figure out how to erase permanent marker is frustrating. Thankfully, there's nothing permanent about a permanent marker. Many things around the house can help you remove the marker from surfaces such as plastic.

Things You'll Need

• Melamine foam eraser
• Lubricant spray
• Hairspray
• Cooking spray
• Nail polish remover
• Cloth
• Paper towel

Instructions

1. Dampen a melamine foam eraser and scrub the marker until the stain comes off.

2. Spray the area with a lubricant and allow it to set for a few minutes. Using a cloth, wipe off the area until the marker is gone.

3. Pour nail polish remover onto the marker stain and let it set for a few minutes. Using a paper towel, scrub the area until the marker comes out.

4. Spray the marker area with cooking spray and let it set for a minute or two. Using a cloth, wipe off the area until the marker comes out.

5. Spray hairspray onto the marker and wipe with a cloth or wet paper towel. The marker should come right off.

Tips & Warnings

• It is best to test these products in a small area first to be sure that they will not cause discoloration to the plastic.
