Ibuprofen interferes with aspirin's effectiveness in preventing heart disease.

Taking a low daily-dose aspirin can be an effective way to help prevent heart disease. According to a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, low-dose aspirin can help prevent heart attacks and strokes. If you are on a low-dose aspirin regimen for heart health reasons, you have to be careful when taking ibuprofen for pain relief. Cardiologists behind the study found that ibuprofen interferes with aspirin's effectiveness if the two medications are taken together or within a short period of time. The study suggests following simple guidelines if you feel you need to take ibuprofen.
