How to Obtain a 2005 Dodge Caravan Navigation Upgrade

Get a map update to have the latest information while driving.

Many vehicle owners choose to add accessories and optional features to their car or truck, such as a GPS navigation system. A GPS system can be added to many vehicles, including the 2005 Dodge Caravan. These systems help drivers travel through unfamiliar areas with the help of spoken turn-by-turn directions. The Dodge's GPS system operates on NAVTEQ maps. Once a year, NAVTEQ releases map updates for many vehicle GPS systems, giving the most recent street and highway information.

Instructions

1. Visit the NAVTEQ website. Click on "Store: Buy a Map Update" at the top of the page.

2. Click on the drop-down menu under the "Update Your Map" heading. Choose "Built-in, Factory Installed." Use the following three menus to choose "Dodge," "Caravan" and "2005." The newest update is shown.

3. Click "Add to Cart" and "Checkout." As of November 2010, the update is priced at $199. Fill out your shipping and billing information to complete the order. The update is mailed to your address on a DVD.

4. Install the update by inserting the DVD into the system's disc drive while the engine is running. Enter the authentication code included in the package, and the update will start automatically.

Tips & Warnings

• Do not turn off the Dodge Caravan's engine while the update is applying. This may damage the GPS.
